Often in life there are many milestones; but the biggest and most expensive would be buying your very first home. It signifies a sense of adulthood, commitment and independence. Hence this process shouldn't be taken lightly. There is a lot of thought and preparation when first time home buyers start their house hunt. However most people tend to underestimate the importance of feng shui during this process.
Having a house that follows these principles, would not only ensure good fortune but also good energy in the house. Therefore to help you pick a home that would be a dream come true; here are 5 Feng Shui tips you could use right away during your house search.

1. Check If There’s A Spacious Area In Front Of The House

Before you step inside to view the home’s interior, take a look at its exterior and surroundings first.
This is especially important if you intend to buy a landed property. It is vital to look out for an open space as you need to ensure there’s a proper "Bright Hall" in your house. In Feng Shui, a "Bright Hall" is an open space directly in front of the property that allows positive Qi to collect and circulate before entering the home and its rooms. Having such an open space in front of your house is a clear indicator of good Feng Shui and will definitely help to bring in good fortune.

2. Ensure The House Has A Good Main Door

FENG SHUI - Take a closer a look at the home’s main door and what kind of Forms the main entrance faces
Take a closer look at the house’s main door and what kind of "Forms" the main entrance faces.
What does it mean to have a good Main Door in Feng Shui? The Main Door of a home is the primary entrance where all Qi from the external environment will come in. Therefore it is important to ensure this feature isn’t adversely affected by any "Forms" or Structures. This will ensure that the Qi won’t be hindered when entering the home. Examples of such external Negative Forms include sharp corners and even lamp posts that are directly face the home’s entrance (although if these Negative Forms are far away from your house, then is it not much of an issue)

3. Observe The Kitchen Stove’s Location

FENG SHUI -
Stepping inside the home, it’s imperative that you check out the position of the kitchen’s stove before you do anything else.
When you head inside the house, make sure you swing by the kitchen and look out for the stove. For example, if the stove is located on the kitchen island, it is considered unfavourable in Feng Shui. The reason being, as you cook on the stove, the food gets exposesd to Qi from all angles, which may result in health issues down the road. A favourable location would be to place it on a surface that is connected to wall, as it denotes stability.

4. Examine The Ceilings Of The Bedrooms

FENG SHUI - Entering the bedroom, it’s important you pay attention to the ceiling in the room
Entering the bedroom, it’s important to pay attention to the ceilings in the room.
Now, onto the bedrooms. Upon entering the room, make sure to look upwards right away. Having ceiling beams stretching across the rooms is considered a worrying sign in Feng Shui as these beams can create suppressive Qi, which forces Qi downwards to the bed. This phenomenon can result in several health-related issues including sleep disruptions which could negatively affect your daily energy levels. We wouldn't want that would we?

5. Make Sure There Aren’t Any Pillars In The Bedroom

FENG SHUI - While you’re in the bedroom, keep your eyeballs peeled for any pillars in it too

Another thing you would need to look out for while in the bedroom would be pillars. A pillar right in the middle of the bedroom is looked upon as unfavourable in Feng Shui. This formation is also known as a ‘Pole in the Heart Formation’. It tends to significantly affect Qi circulation in the room. Therefore, if you consider having a good night's sleep a necessity, you might want to continue on with your house search.
At the end of the day, Feng Shui is defintely a factor you should consider as you go thru your house hunting process. This will ensure that you do not have any major regrets over the purchase down the road.
Feng Shui can certainly help you make the right home-buying decision only if you’re ready to implement them the right way!
